Crest run

After nap today, we were going to "run" to Crest to get a couple of items. Literally, I had 3 items to get. We pull into the parking lot, and there was one spot left that is for "parents with children", and a lady pulled in and took it right before me, and she had NO KIDS with her! So I was just kind of annoyed. But, since I'm fully capable, I decided it wasn't that big of a deal. Then, we get into Crest, with my two crazy boys. They are usually very well behaved in the grocery store. I got one of the "car" carts, and put them both in the car part, and began to shop. I hadn't even gotten the first item on my list, and Colton says, "mommy, I want to ride in the cart by you." And I said, "OK", and I stopped the cart, and put Colton in the cart. He hadn't even been in the cart for 30 seconds, and he asked to go back to the "car" part of the cart. So, I said, (as patiently as I could), "Colton, I will put you back in the car, but you aren't moving again". So he says okay. I put him in the car, and instantly, he starts crying and throwing a fit saying he wanted back in the cart. I told him no, that he had to stay in the car, and that throwing a fit wasn't going to change it. He continued to scream and cry the ENTIRE time!! I had so many people stop and talk to him, and "oohhh poor baby" him. I was SO ANNOYED! So everyone thought I was a terrible mom because my son was screaming and crying and I was ignoring him. When we got in the car after I got finished checking out, I told Colton that I was very dissapointed with him and that we would not be getting the "car" cart next time. He started crying all over again. He never acts like this!! I have no idea what was going on with him today. So, we get home, and to top it all off, I didn't have all of my groceries. I was in such a hurry to get out of there, I paid for them, and left one of the bags there. AHHHH I'm done. Good thing I have girls night tonight. I need a break.

On Demand

How on earth does Colton go #2 in the potty on demand? Anytime he wants out of whatever he is doing (going down for nap, setting the table, etc.) he just announces that he has to go poo-poo, and 9 times out of 10, he really does.

Toy Story 3

This was Colton's first time to go to the movie theatre! He had such a fun time. He was so excited, and loved the movie. We let him have popcorn and a slush, which ended up pretty much being his dinner.

Baby Communication

So today in the car, Colton asked me to hand him a toy that was sitting on the seat, so when I got to a stop sign, I reached back, and handed him the toy. Almost instantly, Connor started crying. Not, just crying, but wailing. I assumed it was because he wanted that toy also. But, he continued to cry and cry and usually he doesn't do that. I knew that something was wrong, but I didn't know what. So, I talked to Connor, sang to him, reached back and rubbed his head, and kept asking him what was wrong. Well, of course, he cannot talk well enough to tell me why he is crying, so he just keeps on wailing. When we got home, I got him out of his carseat, and hugged him real big, and asked him if he was just ready for his nap. He nodded, and I took him inside. While I was getting him ready for his nap, I took off his shoes, without paying much attention, and he screamed! I looked down, and his pinky toe had gotten stuck in the wrong place in his sandels, and it was all red. Poor baby. I can't wait until he can talk well enough to tell me whats wrong. I feel bad for babies because their only form of communication is crying. I always try to keep that in mind when my babies are crying. They are almost always crying for a reason.

My handyman

Adam built the boys a fort last fall, and they loved it!

Connor has been having trouble climbing up the ladder, without help, and we were afraid he would fall and hurt himself, so Adam added on to the fort this weekend. I think he did a wonderful job!

He spent his father's day finishing up this project. The boys were so excited to play!

Shots

I've decided that Connor HATES to sleep, and LOVES to nurse. I'm worn out. He got shots, and the doctor said he wouldn't feel well. So, he hasn't slept well since his shots. Well we're off to the mall in a little bit---to keep me awake!!

Sleep

Connor slept from 7:30-4:30 last night! This is the longest he's ever slept in his entire life!!! And when he woke up at 4:30, he wasn't crying. I watched him on the monitor, he picked up his lovey bear bear, and laid back down. He tried and tried to go back to sleep. After about 20 minutes of him walering around (is that how it's spelled?), I went in and nursed him because I was afraid he would stay awake for good. I'm so proud of my baby!!!

Exercise

I've decided that I have to start taking the boys on a walk every day so that I can get some exercise. Today I took them to 7-11 on our walk. They were sooooo excited! The hard part was not getting a slush for me. Cause that would have made the walk pointless.

Sleep regression

So, in the past two weeks, Connor has had teeth coming through, and then he had the same crazy virus that Colton had, and then he had a bunch of sores in his mouth and throat. So, needless to say, he started waking up a lot at night, in pain, and nursing was the only thing that would comfort him. Now that he is over all of that, he is still waking up, now that he got in the habit of it again. So, last night, I decided to try the sleep lady shuffle again. Instead of starting out with the chair by his crib, I started with it by the doorway. He woke up at 1:00 AM, and I came in, gave him his bear-bear lovey, and sat down in the chair. He knew instantly what was going on. He cried for a minute, and then he laid down. As long as I sat in that chair, he would lay down. Every time I tried to leave, he would stand up and cry. It took 3 tries of me leaving before he stayed laying down. So, all in all, it was an hour process last night. He was awake from 1:00-2:00, but hardly cried. He just wanted to make sure I'd be there if he needed me. He didn't wake up again until 5:00 AM with the storm. He went right back to sleep until 6:30, and was up for good. I think he has gotten the message that nursing isn't an option in the middle of the night, but that I'm there if he needs me.

Of course, this week, he is getting shots, and then in a few weeks we are going on vacation. Theres always something to mess up sleep routines.

Hope tonight is good!!

Giraffes

Anytime we are in the car, Colton always looks for a deer crossing sign, and then starts looking for deer out his window. Today, we took Colton and Connor to Pops on Route 66 to get a Root Beer. As we are driving, Colton sees a day care center that has a giraffe on it's sign. Colton says "hey look! A giraffe sign! I better start looking for giraffes!" So, the entire drive out to Pops, Colton searched out his window for a giraffe. Poor kid was disappointed. I promised him a trip to the zoo soon.

Hot summer days

Connor loves to run around in his diaper only. This was the other day when he wanted his house shoes on also. Just thought this was cute.

Connor's 15 month appt.

I can't believe my little BABY is 15 months already!!! It makes me sad.... His doctors appointment went well. He is 94% in height and 65% in weight. What a big boy! The doctor wasn't really concerned that Connor isn't interested in solid foods. She said that he is getting all the nutrients he needs from nursing. So, I guess I'll just keep offering food! He did eat a little bit of yogurt tonight at dinner, and got it all over the place! haha. He's sleeping better than ever. He wakes up once, sometimes twice, I nurse him, and he goes right back to sleep. He LOVES his bear-bear lovey. He snuggles with it all night long. I'm excited that he is talking so much more and can communicate more now. It makes my life so much easier! He and Colton are really great playmates now that Connor is walking and can run and play with Colton. I'm excited to see what great friends they will be!

Here they are pretending to sleep in Colton's bed.

Someday, they will love sharing a room!!

Snowing

We took the boys to Hafer Park this morning to play and to feed the ducks. As we were walking over to the park, there was cottonwood all over the place. Colton looked down at the ground and said "hey look! It's snowing!" Yeah, snowing in 95 degree heat.

Summer

Well, I took the boys to the library this morning to sign up for the summer reading program. Colton was acting all excited about it, but then he went straight over to where the movies are, and wanted to rent a movie. I let him pick one, then we went over to the books. Connor picked up a book, and started walking straight to the check out counter. I guess we go to the library so much that a 15 month old knows exactly what to do.
